Pronob Roy (1911-1975), a great scion of the Sabarna Roy Choudhury family, is a legend whose contributions has not only enriched the Bengali films and Music but at the same time has taken Bengali lyrics to culminating heights. He had not only composed 3500 songs in Bengali (films & modern), but at the same time has been a famous scriptwriter, director and an eminent writer having authored dozens of novels and short stories.
Most of his songs have been sung by the greatest singers from Juthika Ray, Jaganmoy Mitra, Sudhirlal Bhattacharya, Kanan Devi to Manna Dey and Asha Bhonsle and still hummed by millions of music enthusiasts.
Sabarna Roy Choudhury Paribar Parishad pays homage to one of the greatest sons of the family in his Birth Centenary.
